Lazy Eye Doctors in Malta
Amblyopia (lazy eye) occurs when the brain favours one eye over the other during visual development, causing reduced vision in the weaker eye that cannot be fully corrected with glasses alone. An ophthalmologist identifies the cause — commonly a squint, refractive error, or obstruction — and prescribes glasses and patching or penalisation of the stronger eye to stimulate visual development in the weaker eye. Treatment is most effective when started early in childhood, as the visual system remains plastic until around eight to ten years of age.
